# Lights · Rhino

In Rhino, D5 Lite reads native Rhino lights and does not provide a separate Lite light panel. You continue to create and edit lights in Rhino; Lite reads them and shows the corresponding render result.

Rhino's directional (parallel) light is not read as a Lite light. Rhino also has no native light type equivalent to a Disc Light, so there is no Disc Light in Rhino.

## Reading and Editing

Lite reads the position, orientation, color, intensity, angle, and size of Rhino lights; the Spot Light direction follows the light direction in Rhino. After you adjust a light in Rhino, the Lite render updates with the sync.

## Shadow Thickness and Light Radius

Rhino has no separate Lite light panel, so Lite expresses light radius through Rhino's native Shadow Thickness parameter: a shadow thickness of 100% corresponds to a light radius of 0 (hardest shadow edge) and 0% corresponds to 10 (softest), that is, Lite light radius = (100 − Rhino shadow thickness %) / 10. This mapping applies to point lights and spotlights only; rectangle lights and strip lights have no light radius.

## Sync to D5 Render

Rhino lights can move into D5 Render via Live Sync for further refinement.
